Wide expanses of blue, an ocean
Oh so still, so serene, soft and yet unbearably old,
A tidal wave of black, shining, sweeping across,
Blink and for one split-second feel the protection.
Dilating into clarity, watch the black recede,
Waiting oh so patiently on the horizon,
Like the night to smother the light,
Splashes of grey and white throughout the sea
The centre, an island, an endless pit of darkness,
Nothing dares come near in fear of falling in,
It’s starting to rain now,
Big fat droplets of salty water drowning the hues,
Red veins of sorrow, wrapping, their way through,
Blooming, akin to a poisonous flower,
Sowing the seeds of destruction,
Only light emanating from glittering reflections.
