It is a dark road that I walk, that the past has shown,
Where it will carry me, I have never known,
By a creature’s prophesy my heart has been thrown,
He continually assures me I will walk this road alone.
This path will not lead me to the one whom I hold dear,
With each continuing step my happiness will disappear,
As I walk the creature whispers dark words in my ear,
Before me it promises the many things I fear.
Many of my friends are behind me as I walk,
My shadow is the only person with whom I can talk,
In the woods around me the eyes of starved wolves stalk,
The creature questions in my ear my choice at the last fork.
I can hear the creature’s laugh, it is sheer and cruel,
The wolves’ eyes are still watching, they torment me too,
But I won’t stop walking, I will see it through,
Nothing here stands in my way while I walk with You.
