Amber eyes blink, slowly,
Among wild darkness.
A sleek, queenly leopard stalks silently, elegantly,
Through the night.
When an unknowing bird begins to sing its song
and starts to fly away,
Her ears prick, her paws tense,
A single, sharp movement, and the bird would never
reach its destination.
But unnecessary, quite unnecessary.
The leopard grandly continues stalking through
Her grassland, yes, her grassland.
Eyes darting about for a danger
to her beautiful home,
Part-time hunter, full-time protective mother.
