The concrete meshes with my skin
Strands of chocolate flailing in the wind
Knees pressed tight, bruises sour
Head caged to my side I cower
Flashing memories of ocean skies
Now torn, leaking out the sides
Yellow and green a blur past
Jealous, blue and now at last
Scratches red, against pale arms
Shivering, shaking, quaking alarmed
Not even her silken voice
Could clear away this abundance of noise
Eyes clouded over full of shame
I’d never been more thankful for the rain
