I was just a normal 14 year old boy playing video games on a late Friday night, like any other boy would when ‘THUMP!’
“What the heck?" I whispered to myself in fear. I heard that ear piercing floorboard squeak from upstairs. I was seriously confused though, no-one was home, I was alone. I paused my video game to see if I could hear it again, I waited for like an eternity and I heard nothing, so I decided to forget about it. I turned my video game up even louder but every 2 minutes I would continue hearing the sound. Every time I paused the game, the sound stopped.
I eventually had enough, I dialled 000 and the Police Officer on the line said to stay calm, and I knew why, I was shaking in fear. He then said to get out of the house and they would be there soon. But being a curious person, I went upstairs and looked to see if there was actually anyone there, I quickly grabbed my flashlight from behind the door and crept up the spiral staircase.
Soon enough I was there, I tried not to make any noise but there was no point. The squeaky floorboards gave me away. I turned on my flashlight and screamed like a little girl. There was a tall black figure in front of me, I ran downstairs not looking back and went flying out the front door. I was breathing so heavily, my heart was practically beating out of my chest.
Just then, a Police car pulled up in front of my house, I breathed a sigh of relief. I explained everything, how I saw a black figure and kept hearing sounds upstairs. They went to investigate but found nothing. The police told me it could've been an evil spirit because a man died in this house years ago and his spirit is still living here. That just sent a shiver down my spine. I felt like I was going to die of fear.
We eventually moved out 2 months later, which was a relief. Now all I know is the spirit could still be haunting us, I am never going to stay home alone. Never again...
