Those who have strength must fight for the weak,
Defend freedom and human rights
Bullets rain down, killing the meek
For our beliefs they had to fight.
And the songs of sorrow are mournfully sung
For freedom, a struggle that is right
And on the battlefield, bullets are flung
For a war that can’t stop is an ugly sight.
The students who study the wars of the past
Enjoy the story but miss the core
Away into the depths of memory the soldiers' souls are cast
Forgotten are the images of war.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
A phrase to remind us as each day is dawning.
