The night is dark, the night is still
A sprinkling of stars across the night they fill
Like a big black blanket with moth holes in it
By the window in awe and amazement I sit
Now the moon is rising as fast as can be
On the horizon an amber glow I see
Rising, rising, rising much faster than the sun
As I sit and watch it looks like its on the run
Now its changing colour to silvery white
Earth’s closest neighbour is such a sight
The glowing moon is rising to such a great height
Illuminating the still dark night
Reflecting on the water, a shimmering white shadow
Back and forth the tides they flow
With craters and Marias that were thought to be a sea
At night the moon gets down to minus 173
