Excellence Award in the 'Spread The Word 2017' competition
Foamy serpent, rising from the depth of the sea,
Crashing over sandy banks, a trail of salty debris;
Ensnared in ropes of weed, prisoners of war in struggle,
Panicking, kicking, fighting, yet barely making a bubble,
The bodies of the water’s warriors, red blood from broken feet,
Fragments of scattered shell, are paintings of defeat,
Persecution, war, hatred, all screaming in the wind,
Screeches mixing with the salty tang of accumulating sin,
Once alive, now an empty frame, floating in the waves,
Just another of the ocean’s unwanted face-less slaves.
