Excellence Award in the 'Spread The Word 2017' competition
The day is heralded by a hideous scream
That pierces and echoes in the people's ears.
The blistering sun and the belching sand
Dry up the children's swollen tears.
Their cries overrun by the bangs of bombs
In a broken house no longer home.
Choking on dust on the frenzied street,
The man knows he's no where to roam.
A hope sought only in eternal sleep,
That lady thinks just why,
Why terror and anguish is allowed
To make her children cry.
