Dance Of The Stars

The night glistened as I lay down, watching the sky closely. Light from the iridescent moon shone brightly, with the stars twinkling around it. Comets flew by majestically, with their tails shimmering behind. It was glorious, stargazing on a mystical night like this, observing the intricate constellations above. Every second I gazed was savoured. The cosmos was a mysterious, but inspiring sight. Our universe was the most beautiful thing I’d ever seen in my life. Truly amazing.
A shooting star zoomed by. It was time to make a wish. I thought carefully for a time. I wanted to use my wish wisely- I didn’t want to waste such a rare and wonderful chance. Then, it came to me. At first thought, I was being impractical making what seemed an impossible wish, but soon realised that I was passionate about it. I finally made my wish, hoping it might come true yet I felt that chance was close to zero. What did I wish for? I wished that the ever-so magical stars would descend and dance the most spellbinding dance the entire world would ever see right along with me. That would surely be incredible but dreams do sometimes come true, don’t they? I simply had to wait and see...
Startlingly, a glowing star began to drift down from the mystical night sky. More and more stars followed. Soon there were about a hundred stars whirling and twirling in precise movement. They started to float elegantly towards me as I held my breath. I stood up, confused yet spellbound at the vision I was perceiving. I rubbed my eyes. Was I dreaming?
No, the sight was lucid as crystal. This was actually happening. It was surreal. The stars had now surrounded me, flickering swiftly and hypnotically. It was as if they were … dancing! Technicolour nebulae floated down from space toward me, joining in the stars’ celestial dance, and dazzling me with their lustrous spectrality. Then, what seemed like miniscule planets drifted and joined, orbiting me as I danced.
I swirled around, posed and danced gracefully with the interstellar trinity, having the most fun I’ve ever had in my life. One of the dancing stars floated toward me. I gently cupped my hands. It rested inside. I was holding a star in my very own hands! I removed my hands and let the glimmering star free, as I continued to dance the night away.
Eventually, it was time for the trinity to return to the heavens. The tiny planets, nebulae and stars all drifted back to their rightful homes in the cosmos. Abruptly, one of the stars floated back to me. It was the star I had held! It zoomed around me one last time. “Goodbye”, I said quietly as the playful star finally joined the others.
I decided to go home. As I walked, I felt wonderstruck. I would remember that dream-like and enchanting experience forever. I guess wishes really do come true after all.
