The Arrival Of Winter

The sky is mourning,
For the sun has gone away once more.
Raindrops fall like harmless missiles,
Kissing the cheeks of the lives below.

The forceful winds whistle.
Rebellious leaves dance in the cold air,
Watching eyes mesmerized by the way they dance.

Heels tap against the concrete,
Their urgency singing a song on the wet floor.
Doors close,
Windows shut.
The fireplace crackles with laughter.

Concealed in their homes,
Children watch the race of the rain down the frosted windows,
A single whisper escapes their lips,
Winter.
