An iceberg stands,
A representation of the mind’s untapped creative potential.
Despite its bulk, it remains almost completely underwater,
Out of sight of wandering eyes.
It’s not perfect – there are outcrops, ledges, sheer drops, and hollows,
Metaphors of ideas that aren’t quite right, spontaneous thoughts,
Or anomalies in my thinking.
Upon it is a sandy peak,
A beach that symbolises the mind’s conscious or analytical thinking.
The sand grains of which represent the ideas we conceive,
They can be blown around by the sea breeze,
Like some ideas are swept under the rug before they can be understood.
The peak is perilously dependent on the stability of the iceberg beneath,
Like how our analytical thinking hinges,
On the strength of our own creative potential.
One’s own island differs greatly from another’s – making it all the more special.
