Where I Belong

I do not belong in the city
Or in the roving plains
I don’t belong in the desert
Or in the forest lanes
I belong in the mountains
Where the snow-peaked tips reach to the sky
In that snowy white wilderness
That is where I will live and die
I soar up through the mountains
Dancing through the sky
Joining the flakes in their heavenly dance
So that I may no longer die
I do not belong in the city
Where you cannot see stars at night
I belong in the mountains
Where I will embrace the light
