A Vanishing World

An eerie silence, before the wide spread chaos,
Stepping over the bodies, disfigured beyond recognition.
My senses assaulted by rusting blood and burning flesh.
I see friends, comrades and enemies alike, falling like dominoes.
Where shall I turn? Who shall I save?
Screams everywhere.
Here I stand, watching the endless waste of youth, waste of life,
Compassion, my only companion,
I feel the aching solitude, and the clouds of despair,
As I look upon the carnage of a world turned upside down.
It’s a vanishing world,
Crushed under the heels of death and destruction.
These unforgiving times,
Demolishing the laws of humanity.
I struggle to understand this battle
Without boundaries, without mercy.
