An Autumn's Day

As the brown dry leaves danced along in the crisp Autumn breeze,
I embraced the smallest things before the cool Winter’s freeze.
The excessively weighted grey clouds filled up the hollow and bare blue sky,
But not one droplet of rain could be seen by the naked eye.
Due to ever changing seasons, skies are not always blue,
But I caught a glimpse of the radiant sun seeping through.
Bare trees consumed light as if they were guests at a banquet,
The ever-glazing sun covers the chilled earth in a warm blanket.
The grey skies filled with vibrant colours of green and red,
The swift parrot’s calming chirps turned into screeches to dread.
With just 2,000 of these beautiful birds left, they are hardly seen,
From their nests in Tasmania is where they have been.
The warm rays of sunlight were covered by the cold rough skies,
Soon my skin was icy and bare, pleading for the sun to rise.
A beautiful Autumn’s day has concluded right on cue,
I yearn for another perfect Autumn’s day like this to brew.
