The hummingbird cries, he cries helplessly
They lie there, listening to his sad song
The louder he sings, the more they enjoy
Trapped between bars of steel, suffering bird.
He spreads out his wings, trying to escape
The cage rattles and shakes, the door won’t budge
His feet lift off the ground, but don’t fly far.
His soul locked, in his old, gloomy prison.
Discouraged, he closes his eyes, and dreams.
He dreams of freedom, in the great, blue sky
He dreams of fresh air, a strong gust of wind
Out of this sad and miserable cage.
His body lies down on the ice cold floor
His sad eyes closed, and his soul is set free
Away from this desolate life he had
Away from the terrible memories.
He is now free.
