An Ode To Athletics Carnivals

We will lose for sure, Athletics Carnivals suck.
Here, dumping my belongings in a sea of navy bags
A dry place that shouldn't get sun in the afternoon
No matter how fast I run, I can't escape the events
Sunscreen, a delaying tactic I know, but safety first right?
Slip, slop, slap, seek, and slide
High Jump, Triple jump and Long Jump, the holy trinity of failing flops
Javelin is fun, throwing a stick is easy
100m, 200m, 400m and more, how many running events do you need?
The Hurdles are daunting, full of bruises and falls
Shot put, be honest, how is this relevant to anything
And finally discus, like frisbee but heavier and more dangerous
Finally, we sit back in the tent and listen to the summary
Someone's sitting on my water bottle
Speeches, only listened to by the strong of mind.
We won! Athletics Carnivals are great.
