The clouds part only once a day,
The peak is your destination, faraway.
Each step upwards makes it harder to breathe,
Your face numb completely on the mountain to seethe.
The strain to proceed your body must uphold,
Your skeleton and bones no longer stronghold.
Your strength once fails you, and you slip from the ledge,
The wind gusts to push you off the edge.
You see yourself tumbling into the foggy sea,
It's too much, you think, this task isn't for humans like me.
But deep down you know that's just an excuse,
You push yourself to pursue the victory you choose.
The snow falls and your body complains,
But until you reach victory you won't rest again.
You're weary and feel like you're suffocating,
But you can't stop, the peak of Everest is waiting.
