Escaping From School

“No” the Australian teacher said,
“You cannot leave the school grounds!”
She walks away for an injury to the head,
Her eyes have drifted towards other sounds,
I sprint around the corner with no cares,
And push the gate open without any shame,
I stumble down the school stairs,
Behind me I can hear someone calling my name,
“Max! Come back here!” Says the creature,
She is yelling without glee,
I look back up at the teacher,
Her eyes glare down at me,
I smile my sweetest smile,
Then sprint down the street,
All the way home which takes a while,
Happy to be distant from my school seat.
