Waves of conversation
are flowing from my mouth
hasty in their departure
they leave and do not return
they sail to another’s ears
In return boats sail back
bringing more words with them
sudden as a storm the waves become
great powerful white horses
they billow and crash
they roar and surge
they gurgle and swirl
then the waves become calm again
and there are no boats in sight
conversation has left the harbour
to be still once more
