The lurking traveller takes his life,
a bloody performance of show and strife.
His road winds eternally ahead,
only to dissolve with his sudden end.
And the rocky faces of ancient hills
stare down upon him, and yet are still
unmoving and cold in their demeanour.
Too cold is the night and the dark winged angel
that blesses with a kiss the traveller’s lost soul.
It is a midnight blue, unlike the night.
But now daylight arrives, creeping over this fright,
and the traveller escapes the burning flame
of a candle, drowning in waxy pain.
