He has prolonged twisting hands
That provide a safe shelter for many
His coarse mahogany coat
Cloaks his age-old body completely.
As guiltless as a newborn pup
Yet as cunning as the winter sky
He plucks my gaudy wind catcher
Every time it vivaciously races by.
His drooping emerald foliage
Resembles my old man’s facial chops
The power and authority with which he stands
Rivals that of even the local cops.
Who is he?
But only a grand old willow tree!
