January 29th, 1863,
The decisive day General Connor did decree.
Death would soon follow this ill-fated native society,
And the Bear River Massacre, would gain notoriety.
The Battle for Cache Valley,
Would end at the finale.
Of many native families,
And so many more casualties.
Not just the men, but the women and children too,
So many dead, taken by the guns and the flu.
So many dead, so many slain,
Blood spilt, red pain, cut from the vein.
Chief Bear Hunter wanted the best for his community,
But General Connor took that with impunity.
