The second hand goes tick and tock
Moments come and go
The hand is going round the clock
Just going with the flow
Minutes wasted hours lost
Will never be regained
Did he know to count the cost
Did he see the stain
Pennies kept we live with guilt
Shunning what is true
A kind word scorned, a wall he built
From love he never knew
Dead man in his timber bed
Right where he was laid
Forgot the happy words she said
Remembered all the pain
