The engines of the utes,
The footsteps of the mob,
The shouting farmers trying to get the dogs to do their job.
“Get over!” they yell,
“Get over!” and “Go back!”
The dogs push the sheep further down the track.
Sparky’s growing tired,
But still she keeps the pace,
A ewe goes through the fence so now begins the chase.
The shearing shed’s in sight,
The sheep, they stamp and kick,
The farmer swings the gate and it closes with a click.
So now the job is done,
They’ve shedded the last lamb,
Weary, off they pant, seeking the coolness of the dam.
