Finalist in the 'Horizon of Dreams 2018' competition

It was Christmas '17, Nan and Pop were here to stay.
Spain to Australia is a pretty long way.
We waited at the airport. Big hugs and smiles were ready.
All so, SO excited we could hardly keep steady.
Three months of fun and games with them, we couldn't wait.
The plane came in to land and pulled in at the gate.
Christmas came and went - cuddles, giggles, treats galore.
Before we even knew it were packed cases as the door.
With tissues in our pockets, to departures we all went.
Luggage got checked in - on to the plane it would be sent.
With heavy hearts we waved, sad big kisses we all blew.
It's goodbye just for now until our next hello.
