Excellence Award in the 'Horizon of Dreams 2018' competition

twisting, turning, a maze, but with only dead ends,
and a grown-over entrance, and no exit,
and walls so high the sun can barely shine over them,
and their long shadows cast darkness in all their contents,
and walls so thick they seem to go on forever
and no one can see the other side
and no one believes there is another side
the maze is so old and she was left
unattended, untreated, uncared for
for so, so long that the walls have grown taller and wider than before
and now the maze is abandoned, waiting for someone
to brave her, to battle the maze
determined to make it past the walls,
she remains, ever growing
waiting...
