In the darkness, shadows loom,
A ghostly form creeps from my chair.
I jump at every creak and boom;
Everything conspires to scare.
Sickened with cold sweat drenching me,
A shiver running up my spine.
Menacing shapes are all I see;
What monster now invades my mind?
Inside my body I cannot cope,
I clasp my hands tightly and pray.
Surrendering to sleep I hope
That this terror finally will go away.
In the morning light, I see my source of fear:
Hanging limply… on a chair… my underwear.
