Reaching For Refuge

I Scurry to grab, the things that matter,
My hand on the door, I hear some feet patter.
But that doesn't matter, And they wont catch me,
Leave it all behind, It's my time to flee.
I open the door quietly slip through,
Saying goodbye to the home I knew.
I stumble and tumble while running away,
Don’t know where I'll go but I know I cant stay.
Clueless and alone I continue my hide,
I spot a small boat and in comes the tide.
I get in the boat and start to heave,
I sigh in relief knowing I could leave.
I hear thunder crash Waves toss me around,
I need to find land, I look for ground.
When I reach the shore And a sky of blue
I know that I've made it To somewhere new.
