Excellence Award in the 'Horizon of Dreams 2018' competition
Slowly shrinking, slowly thinning
Every week a part is lost
Less remembered, less spoken
More "Sad isn't it?"*
You seem fragile and lonely
Yet your stubbornness never fails
Help is there at every turn
Though no gratitude ever expressed
Words are more like noises
Each sentence a cryptic code
Christmas may not come again
Our weekend lunches, our games of UNO "That was good wasn't it?"*
It scares me to think you are going, so please just keep playing
