Finalist in the 'Horizon of Dreams 2018' competition
So deep and dark in the woods it lies,
Watching children day and night,
Without a face it's watching you,
With every word with every move.
Silently it creeps inside,
Approaching me with a gentle stride,
As I watch him with fear and dread,
He stood beside me and quietly said,
"It's time to play, I mean no harm,"
He wrapped his tentacles around my arm.
He took me back to the deep dark woods,
I looked around and there I stood,
With the corpses of kids hanging from trees,
It was time to play, he glanced at me,
Then grabbed the knife and there I stood,
In the dark, deep slender woods.
