The striking sun awoke at dawn,
Stretching out in a morning yawn.
Its light bursts forth, in glorious rays,
Shimmering, shining, its colours ablaze.
The light fills the earth, leisurely warming,
Breaking through night into a brand new morning.
The birds join the sky and amidst it they soar,
Not a soul could behold such a sight to adore.
And the sun rose higher over the earth,
Spreading love and joy and bliss and mirth.
Its light bounced between clouds; dancing
Over blooming flowers and creatures prancing.
Ah, the light, I savour while it lasts,
Why does the daylight come and go so fast?
Though as it weakens it still seems to glimmer like a diamond,
I sit mesmerised until it is swallowed by the horizon.
