Quiet and serene, it blankets the fields,
White dots twinkle among its deep black sky.
Creatures of night the darkness shields,
A ghostly glow illuminates farms of rye.
Chills flow in the cool breeze,
Stars dance to form stories in picture.
Leaves of a willow droop to protect the birds at ease,
Foxes lurk in the shadows, eyes glowing aware and sure.
Fireflies waltz among the leaves of an oak,
An owl’s call echos throughout forests.
A distant fire crackles as it billows out smoke.
Wisps of cloud speckle the night,
The wind sighs through the branches,
Slowly dawn creeps into sight.
