When I get home, things that can’t be postponed.
Cleaning my room, say I’ll do it soon.
I don’t think mum believes me, I catch her off the hook with tea.
In a while she’s on guard, eating hotdogs and hot mustard.
She eyes me suspiciously, my promise reminded, mysteriously.
I said with sorrow, I promise I’ll do it tomorrow.
When I get home, things that can’t be postponed.
Polishing my shoes, feel like singing the blues.
My dad set this rule, which is so not cool.
Before it was dark, planned a trip to the park.
Dad saw me sneak out, from afar, heard his shout.
I said with sorrow, I promise, I’ll do it tomorrow.
When I get home, things that can’t be postponed.
To care for little brother, promised mother and father.
From the day he came to us, my promise never rusts.
I always say happily, I promise, I’ll do it merrily.
