Excellence Award in the 'Write Along 2018' competition

She reminds me of the ocean
because she’ll bring you right in,
with her cool calming motions
and her soft, sweet, kind grin.
But when you’re in deep
and she’s got you in her grip,
she’ll hold you under
like a cold vicious rip.
She’ll keep you alive
to play her cruel games,
maybe if you’re lucky
you’ll see land again.
Somehow you’re let go,
although so few are, and you wash up on the beach
with fear in your heart
