Excellence Award in the 'Write Along 2018' competition
Galloping freely across the dry sand that crunched under his hooves
Trying to ignore the pain within
Losing control of the great stallion that powered beneath me
Scared, petrified of what would happen next
Slowly slipping, sliding down his back
Slipping in and out of reality
Holding on by just the rope around his neck
Thinking it's over, feeling worthless
Pulling myself up his back, regaining balance
Realising that I can get through this tough time
Regaining control, slowing down
Understanding what's happening and accepting it
I can't choose what happens, but I can choose how to handle it
