Sat with pen, poised, attentive, awaiting the outline of prose
In my head to take form. Intrigued, ponder which path I will go.
Humorous ballad, mournful lament, abstract maelstrom of thought?
Perhaps even casual reflection of the social commentary sort.
For pervading through each day, nigh impossible to miss,
Copious volumes abused or exploited, each day mar our streets.
Malice and hatred, violence and anguish - a question I propose:
Ever stood up for this injustice? Ever opposed?
A story is painted, of people repressed, withheld out of light.
Any gender, any race, any ability… Any person: black or white.
Bullied, degraded, impeded, ignored, violated, beaten and more.
Can you imagine each day like this? Has it been you before?
A fine start is discourse, highlighting the egregious disparity,
But if actions never change how will we ever stop this polarity?
To conclude this unabashed justice edict, a challenge for all -
Be a decent human being and empower everyone to stand tall!
