Excellence Award in the 'Write Along 2018' competition

I look out into the sea,
And hear the waves whisper to me:
A call to the edge, a temptation to come closer
To their endless mass of dark blue water

A thousand storms couldn’t keep me away
I could float forever and forever I could sway
A calm in my heart and tranquility in my soul,
For the sea and ocean that I call my home

The water a wilderness never to be tamed,
Brings a peace about me that cannot be explained.
A thalassophile by all means of the word,
A comfort in the waves that crash undeterred

Like stars shining in the night sky,
The shimmering water under the moonlight,
Guide me home as I sigh, and
The waves kiss me goodbye
