She imagined her next entry:
Dear Diary,
I’m sitting by myself,
again.
I hear all the other children
laughing and screaming with delight.
I wish I had the nerve
to go over there
and join them.
I wish for once
that I could look up,
and see someone
smiling at me.
Diary,
it’s so hard
being blind.
