I don’t think I have ever seen such corruption in a land of destined freedom
I don’t think I have ever seen the faces of the men; blinded by deceptive wisdom
I don’t think I have ever seen such rage in their bleeding eyes
I don’t think I have ever fallen accustomed to their unsuppressed lies.
I don’t think I have ever praised the colours of white and blue
I don’t think I have ever sworn words that could be justified as much as true
I don’t think I have ever seen as much paper burn as these
I don’t think I have ever seen the animosity spreading through us; a plaguing disease
I don’t think I have ever been forced into a battle of so-called goodwill
I don’t think I have ever lusted for war; as now I know I will
But,
I don’t think our anger could ever foreshadow
The images of our country’s golden meadows
As we silently count the passing days
Our backs against the wall of this stockade
