After the deafening crack came the deathly silence
The hunter moved slowly to its prey, eyeing it down coldly
Fear ran though the hearts and souls; there was no more life
Who will be next, matriarch or child; just another ivory prize.
Swimming in the ocean all alone, no one or thing in sight
A cluster of disappearing lives being swept through the reefs;
for only food they were seen.
Scorching temperatures rising each day; making life unbearable
The evaporation of colour devoid of nutrients and meaning
Ocean titans twisting to break free; one turn away to lose hope.
Blazing surrounds; running to nowhere, no sanctuary left
Forcefully discarded, fading memories of a lost world.
Icebergs collapsing; the last heat wave it could bare to stand
Slowly sinking under, never to be seen
A part of the world was no longer.
When will we learn?
