Dear Shooting Star

Oh, shooting star that fell from the heavens that night,
Though the moon had fallen, I wished your light would start to ignite.
I wished you would hold a torch, brighter than all the unbroken hearts,
That still lay untouched by the world, that I hoped would be standing and not falling like a house of cards.
May the children, mothers and fathers that were once holding onto each other flourish and bloom,
With their smiles not faulting behind their stone masks and blackened costumes.
But why can't I stop my heart from filling with cracks?
Why can't I hold my tears from falling back?
Even with this sea of glowing hearts, I still can't reach out beyond this stage,
Their dreams inside their stories are reaching out, yet mine has yet to turn a brand new page.
I know all of their passions, lies, secrets, and even their sorrows,
For each one of their fallen tears, my heart becomes more and more hollow.
Oh, shooting star that fell from the heavens that night,
Please help heal my broken heart in this everlasting moonlight!
