I brush my hand against the wall
Very grateful, despite it all
The lists of names, extremely tall
On the Remembrance Day walk.
Up the wall, poppies creep
Their colours rich, red and deep
Oh, if only those names were just asleep
On the Remembrance Day walk.
To show gratefulness that’s our aim
For those whose lives were cruelly slain
For those who suffered all the pain
On the Remembrance Day walk.
Now as the sun goes up and down
The cheerfulness erasing my frown
I stand on the healthy, stable ground
Those people earned for me.
