Blowing out the candles
On my cake every year
Ten, Eleven, Twelve
My teenage years are here.
Waiting as the clock of life,
Blinks away the time
Sitting anxiously,
Rather than taking the climb.
Sixteen and seventeen,
Peer pressure, exams and tests
Only one year left now,
I know it’s for the best.
From childhood to adulthood,
Like walking on a pier,
knowing deep inside you,
end is finally here.
