Escaping my aunt’s glare, I cuddled my little black dog
Opened my book with no pictures, and began a fantastic journey
I go down, down the rabbit hole
Joining tea parties and chats with the Cheshire Cat
Curiouser and curiouser, I ask, “How do you know I’m mad?”
“Harry - yer a wizard!” Hagrid booms in reply
As I battle Voldemort, I recall that neither can live while the other survives
So I envelop myself with my invisibility cloak
And yank the One Ring off my finger to reappear
Amongst fighting Orcs, Goblins, Men, Dwarves and Elves
Wildly, I throw the cursed Ring into the deep crevasses of Mount Doom
In a bang, my spiralling house hits the ground from the sky
After a wondrous journey with Toto and my three companions, I was ready to leave
Clapping the heels of my silver shoes three times, I shout, “Take me home”
Instantly, I transformed from Dorothy to Frodo, from Harry to Alice
And finally back to my reader self, happily immersed in my books
