A seed lies on its side upon the ground,
Soon it is accepted by the soil,
And through its growth, ends up forming a mound,
Whilst the shell’s contents begin to uncoil.
Against all odds, the seed always prevails,
Until at last, a shoot of green breaks through,
A singular leaf turned into a sail,
The change to a tree also brought a view.
The leaves fall one by one from up above,
A transfixing reminder of life’s end.
A final goodbye in memory of,
The tree of which they used to all depend.
When they reach the ground, they turn into peat,
And so the life of the tree can repeat.
