Becoming Yesterday

Like a glint of sunlight reflected off glass
Like a blur of breath on a mirror’s surface
Like early morning frost outside of the window
Like raindrops caught between pine needles
Like caliginous verglas on old worn dirt roads
Like a paroxysm of sunset painted in cloud wisps
Like the unsure shadow of the waning moon
Like bubbles formed on a fresh stream’s surface
Like summer sunlight filtered through leaves
We; come, leave
Only frail failing fleeting impressions
All desperately bright, effervescent, alight; spark, flame, ash
Capable of nothing
More than a memory and thought distorted
After image
Fast becoming yesterday
