Lament for the children, running for their lives
Lament for the broken husbands and wives
Lament for the death of the natural world
And for all of the angel wings that have been unfurled
Weep for the animals, who are last of their kind
Weep for humans that have no peace of mind
Weep for the people who have been stolen away
For merely having the courage to pray
But lament not for your own minor mistakes
Nor of the effort for you that a small feat takes
Lament no longer for what you think is lost
For it draws your smile away from those that hold you aloft
Weep not for the people who managed to survive
Who strive to tell their stories to those who thrive
Weep not over what may be so
Because until that time, we may never know
