Finalist in the 'Just Keep Writing 2019' competition
A spark and glow we all remember,
The warming light of flames and ember,
Giving light it brings destruction,
It helps the world to live and function,
Engulfing land of dry terrain,
Leaving ash, it’s inhumane,
But in its wake, it has a flaw,
In case she burns earth to the core,
‘Cause with a single drop of water,
She disappears,
Like you never saw her,
But she’ll be back,
And she’ll be stronger,
And next time, she will stay for longer.
She’ll destroy the world,
With a few simple smashes,
Shattering earth into dull, grey, ashes.
