Why do we wash in it every day,
When others haven’t even seen clean water?
Why do we get it straight out of the tap,
When they must walk over a kilometre to get a bucketful?
Why do we play in it at the pool,
When it is the difference between life and death?
Why do we splash it over the sides of the waterslide,
When they are having droughts for years on end?
Why do we drink over a litre a day,
When others only have seven sips in a week?
Why do we think rain is annoying and wet,
When it is enough to make others sing and dance?
Why do we leave the tap running,
When it is the stuff that saves lives?
Why do we have clean water,
When they are humans too?
